about cat

Cat Wright was born and raised in the Minnesota ‘burbs, where she spent her time choreographing melodramatic lyrical solos and writing gloomy poetry in the basement. She’s lucky enough to have been raised by her personal heroes, her parents. Pam and Scott Wright totally spoiled Cat and her sisters, Jillian and Carolyn, as well as her dog, Toby, with travel and unconditional love. (Recommended).

Cat received her Bachelor’s degree from Pomona College in Claremont, California, where she studied, take a deep breath: Media Studies with a Concentration in Critical Studies with an Emphasis on Film Studies (and a minor in Spanish).

She studied abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she taught English to children and took film class at UBA-Filo — and even understood most of some of what she learned.

Since graduating in 2014, Cat wrote for the entertainment news site Showbiz Cheat Sheet, ghost-wrote and edited manuscripts for industry experts from across the globe, liaised with LA’s most famous hotels for the world’s leading travel distribution brand, wrote round-the-clock script coverage for the Hollywood producer who made Sleepless in Seattle and Interstellar, and tutored a Disney Channel star.

Cat pretends she's still in school whenever physically possible, taking creative writing workshops in the UCLA Extension Program and making a fool of herself in improv classes at UCB. (R.I.P. Upright Citizens’ Brigade Sunset).

Cat likes to think about, & therefore write about: comedy, feminism, politics, Los Angeles, relationships, dance & choreography, capitalism, mental health & self-improvement, recreational drugs, spirituality, photography and collages, high culture vs. "low" culture but especially film & television, Twitter, and how absolutely perfect Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan are together. (Apologies to Rita).

At Pomona College, Cat was a dancer, choreographer, and coach on the 5C Dance Company and the nationally-award-winning Claremont Colleges Ballroom Dance Company.
